When I talk to new believers about how to be a disciple of Christ, I typically tell them that discipleship is a relationship that affects every decision, habit, and moment. To be a disciple of Christ is to let Him guide not only what we believe, but how we live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

1. Start with a Daily Posture of Surrender<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

True discipleship starts with surrender. Every morning, pause and ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts, words, and actions. Pray simply, “Lord, help me follow You today.” This daily surrender stops us from falling back into old habits and reminds us that Jesus is more than just a Savior; He is Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Let Scripture Renew the Way You Think<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

A disciple learns from their master, and Jesus teaches us through His word. Reading the Bible regularly, even if it is only one chapter a day, changes our perspective on the world. When Scripture is present in your mind, your reactions become nicer, your judgments smarter, and your goal clearer. Begin with the Gospels. Listen to Jesus. Consider His tenderness. Pay attention to what He enjoys and what He corrects. This is essential for anyone seeking to understand how to be a disciple of Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Practice Obedience in Small, Everyday Choices<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Following Jesus entails more than just profound spiritual experiences. It is choosing honesty over lying, even when the latter appears easier. It is forgiving when bitterness is merited. It is encouraging someone who is hurting rather than being silent. Small, faithful choices train your heart to recognize God\u2019s voice and trust His ways. This is where the true character of a disciple of Jesus Christ is formed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Stay Connected to God\u2019s People<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Christianity is a team sport. We get stronger as we walk with those who share our devotion to Christ. Join a bible-believing church. Participate in a small group. Ask someone who is mature in their faith to mentor you. Discipleship grows in community as God uses others to sharpen, challenge, and strengthen us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Live Your Faith Where God Has Placed You<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Every day of life is your mission field. A disciple of Jesus Christ shines His light at home, at work, and in everyday locations where life occurs. You don’t need a stage to have an impression. A kind word, a prayer for a coworker, or patience with your children, these small acts of faith are significant manifestations of Christ’s love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you choose to follow Jesus every day in your thoughts, habits, and relationships, you become a living example of His grace. Discipleship is not perfection; rather, it is consistent, faithful development with your eyes fixed on Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
